Fake Metal Trees by Carlos Cotallo Solares – “Pre-Recorded” Material and mapping samples

A Heavy Metal tune which utilizes the MIDI-Mallet instrument and Ableton to map and play layered samples of guitar and drums to notes on the keyboard. This piece also has the performer start a backing track and improvise with guitar licks and mapped onto a second layer (MIDI Channel) of the keyboard. A pedal is then mapped into Ableton Live to change between the layers during the piece. This composition is simple to play with two mallets and shows how easy it is to access a different sound world with this technology.
